The graduate jobs market is not looking great at the moment, so taking a TESOL course and heading off to teach English overseas is a good idea for three reasons. There are loads of employers looking for native English speakers with a degree, so you should be able to find a job and earn a decent wage. You’ll get very impressive-sounding work experience to add to your CV. And you’ll have an unbelievable travel experience before you settle down into your full-time graduate career!

Daniel’s Story

“I've always been interested in the Korean culture. I just never had any means of travelling there. After I finished my university degree, I was dumped into the real world. Like many students before me, all I had was a piece of paper and a huge tuition debt.

“After a few months of sitting at home looking for jobs, I decided my first priority was to make money. So I found a job at a chicken factory, where I met my Korean girlfriend.

“We took a holiday to Korea together, and I fell in love with the country. The only trouble was, her visa had expired. I wasn't in a situation where I could just pick up and leave, but I had my heart set on living in Korea for years. It wasn't until my girlfriend mentioned English teaching that I realised my dream could actually be possible. So here I am, an English teacher!"
