What Happens Before You Arrive in China?
If you don’t already have a 140 Hour TESOL Certificate (or equivalent), we’ll provide you with 140 hours of TESOL training to make sure you’re prepared for your first day in the classroom.
So you’ll get:
- 140 hours of comprehensive TESOL training. You’ll do your 20 Hour Classroom Course in Beijing before your internship starts!
- Expert tutor advice and tips from the i-to-i TESOL team
- Instructions on how to complete your application for the TTC Program
Once you’ve sent the application through to TTC they’ll work with you to organise your placement and arrange your visa. They’ll also be there to offer advice and help you get ready for your big adventure.
What Do You Get in China?
A reputable internship set up for you and an amazing orientation to give you an introduction to Chinese culture. Contract lengths are usually four and a half to five months, depending on the semester time.
- You’ll gain 10-15 hours of face-to-face teaching experience a week.
- More than enough spending money to enjoy your free time: A monthly allowance of RMB2,000 (AU$310) with a RMB2,500 (AU$390) bonus at the end of your contract – with low living costs it’s more than enough money to enjoy your time in China!
- Free accommodation + most living expenses: You’ll get a private bedroom in a shared house or apartment, plus all your meals during the week. You’ll have the weekends free to check out the local restaurants and food stalls.
- 24/7 in-country support + local support: You’ll get picked up from the airport and get as much support as you need while you’re in China.
- An introduction to China and the internship: It’s your chance to sort out the final bits of paperwork and to mingle with other interns and completely immerse yourself in Chinese lifestyle and culture.
- A network of new friends and colleagues: You’ll be joined by interns from the US, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and who knows where else! You’ll always be placed with at least one other intern, so you’ll never be completely alone in a strange Chinese city – unless you want to of course!
- A six-month travel visa: So you’ll have around a month to travel around the country. Not a bad way to spend your end-of-contract bonus!
