Why Teach English in Indonesia?

This has caused the TESOL market to grow rapidly, as an increasing number of local people have begun learning English in the hope of making money from the burgeoning tourist industry.
What Will You Get in Indonesia?
- Salary: Up to IDR 8,500,000 (AU$960) per month based on a 23 hour week (except for teachers in Bogor who will earn up to 20% less than this)
- Accommodation: You can stay in school-subsidised accommodation. This is a private room in a shared house with all the mod cons, including a TV, air-con and a maid! These houses will be close to your school (walking distance or a quick trip on public transport). However, in Bogor you’ll get free subsidised accommodation for the first 30 days, then your school will help you find your own place
- Arrival: You’ll get picked up from the airport in Jakarta and taken to your accommodation. The next morning you’ll head off to meet the other teachers and have a cultural orientation to help you get used to life in Indonesia
- Locations: All the schools are located in and around Jakarta, or in Bogor, which is around an hour from the capital
- Contract lengths: 12 months
- Departure dates: There are departures every month except October and December (subject to availability)
